Chosing the best specification for your project

In the past few years architectural wire mesh has become increasingly popular. Chosing the optimum specification is critical, already during the early stages of your project. Besides the technical characteristics, our meshes offer many design opportunities to realize your ideas.

Often we are asked about the transparancy of wire mesh. Amongst others this depends on the open area, which we are stating on our data sheets based on a viewing angle of 90°. Commonly you view the wire mesh elements from different perspectives making the mesh appear a lot denser. We will be glad to calculate these values specifically for your project.

The transparancy also depends on the size and shape of the openings. Depending on the viewing angle square and rectangular openings will have a different degree of transparancy. For rectangular specifications this even changes with the horizontal or vertical slot direction. The choice between square or rectangular opening can also influence other visual aspects of your project.

Square openings produce a uniform appearance across the surface. With the use of rectangular openings this depends on the length of the slotted hole. The longer the opening, the more visual the horizontal or vertical structures will become.

Multiple wires between the openings enhance this effect. Meshes with groups of wires such as MULTI-BARRETTE or DOGLA-TRIO highlight structures more distinctively than meshes of the EGLA-MONO and EGLA-TWIN types. Precisely chosen gaps in the wire clusters of DOGLA-TRIO form unique structures.

If you are looking for even more distinct structures, we have special solutions for you, for example LARGO-NOVA 2017, which was used at the Leibnitz Rechenzentrum in Garching close to Munich. Nine warp wires create an enormous vertical structure and provide impressive light reflexions.

Besides these design possibilities you can chose between wire meshes with flat or intercrimped surfaces. Click here to learn how this effects the visual appearance of your wire mesh project.
